Law Society invites legal professionals to enter Excellence Awards 2009
The Law Society Excellence Awards are now open for nominations. Following the outstanding success of the Excellence Awards since their inauguration in 2007 they are already established as the leading awards for the profession in the legal calendar. This year the principal sponsor will once again be Mercedes-Benz. The awards recognise and reward the most outstanding practitioners in the legal professions and are open to individuals and teams across the entire legal sector, not just solicitors. New categories have been introduced for 2009 to reflect the diverse work of the profession. Individuals are invited to enter one of six categories; - AWS Legal Businesswoman of the Year - Legal Executive of the Year - sponsored by ILEX - Advocate of the Year - sponsored by Logica - Junior Lawyer of the Year - sponsored by Zurich - Solicitor of the Year - in house - sponsored by Hiscox - Solicitor of the Year – private practice - sponsored by DX Teams are encouraged to compete for awards in; - Excellence in Equality and Diversity - Excellence in Community Investment - sponsored by Deloitte - Legal Sector Alliance Award in Environmental Responsibility - Excellence in Client Service - sponsored by Moneypenny - Excellence in Marketing and Business Development - sponsored by Orange - Lexcel Award in Practice Management - sponsored by Lloyds TSB Commercial - Excellence in Innovation - sponsored by TFB - Excellence in Exporting Legal Services The awards reward and promote excellence across the legal profession and celebrate outstanding achievement in areas that are central to the profession today. They will demonstrate that lawyers continue to innovate and to deliver work of the highest quality despite the challenging economic climate. Law Society Vice President Bob Heslett said, "These awards provide a fantastic opportunity to celebrate what is great about our profession. Winning a Law Society Excellence Award is a huge achievement and brings great recognition for individuals and firms. These awards reflect the Law Society's commitment to the promotion of excellence in the legal profession. This year the awards will be presented at a celebration dinner at the Royal Horticultural Halls, Greycoat street, on 22nd October, offering finalists an opportunity to celebrate with their teams and a host of VIP guests and to entertain clients or other business contacts. Entries will be judged by President [Elect] of the Law Society, Bob Heslett, Vice President [Elect] of the Law Society Linda Lee, Deputy Vice President [Elect] of the Law Society, John Wotton, as well as specialist judges in each category.
